How Iron Buster Works:

The Iron Buster uses advanced catalytic filtration media designed to trap iron and manganese particles in your water. This filter is useful especially when your water is clear when pumped from the ground, but becomes yellowish, brownish once it reaches your taps. The catalytic reaction forces clear water to turn yellow/brown immediately upon contact with the filter. The depth of the filter bed then filters the iron particles. If the water is still brown after Iron Buster, then you can add AFM filter as a polish filter.

Maintenance

Currently, all our filters are auto-backwashing, but timer based. This means that the filter will clean itself based on a set number of days and time. We're still working on pressure-based backwashing, which is more reliable way of cleaning the filter. These filter heads are very expensive, hence we're finding a cheaper way to do this.

Note: Manganese removal requires special conditions. Manganese is removed best at 8-9 pH. Also, it works best if the iron concentration is 5x more than Manganese.

Note: We also advise that by adding some sort of oxidant prior to iron buster (either chlorination or air/ozone retention tank) will remove the iron and manganese even better.

A: Yes. The Iron Buster is specifically designed to remove iron that causes yellow and rusty stains on sinks, toilets, and laundry. You will see a clear difference once installed.

Q: Can it also remove the rotten-egg smell from water?
A: Yes. The Iron Buster reduces hydrogen sulfide (H₂S), which causes the rotten-egg smell. For very strong odor issues, we recommend adding an oxidant (air, ozone, or chlorine) before the filter for best results.

Q: Do I need electricity for the Iron Buster to work?
A: The filter itself does not need electricity to clean your water. However, the auto-backwash control head requires a small amount of electricity to run the timer and operate the backwashing cycle.

Q: How long does the filtration media last?
A: On average, the media lasts 5–7 years, depending on water quality and usage. With proper backwashing, it can last longer without performance loss.

Q: Does the Iron Buster remove manganese?
A: Yes, but under special conditions. Manganese removal works best at a pH of 8–9, and when the iron concentration in your water is at least 5 times higher than manganese.

Q: What is the difference between Iron Buster Prime and Ultra?
A: The main difference is size and flow rate.

• Prime (10” x 54”) handles around 3 gallons per minute.

• Ultra (13” x 54”) handles around 5 gallons per minute.
  Both use the same technology and auto-backwash system.

Q: What maintenance does it need?
A: The Iron Buster is auto-backwashing, which means it cleans itself automatically. Currently, all units use timer-based backwash. We are also working on pressure-based backwashing for even more reliable cleaning.

Q: Will it affect my water pressure?
A: Not significantly. As long as the system is sized correctly (Prime vs. Ultra), your water pressure will remain stable. If you have very high usage, we can recommend a larger customized system.
