Wastewater Treatment Services in the Philippines
Wastewater Treatment Services in the Philippines
Innovative Water Solutions Inc. (IWSI) designs, builds, retrofits and maintains sewage and industrial wastewater treatment plants across the Philippines. Every system is engineered around your site's footprint, flow rate and DENR discharge requirement — and commissioned with accredited third-party effluent testing.
What We Do
Complete wastewater treatment services
IWSI is a Philippine wastewater treatment company offering design-and-build sewage treatment plants, industrial wastewater systems, plant retrofits, water reuse, and ongoing operations support. We work directly — design, construction, commissioning and after-sales are handled by the same team, so accountability never gets passed between contractors.
Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) Design & Build
New sewage treatment plants for buildings, subdivisions, hospitals, hotels and commercial developments — from process design and tank sizing through construction, installation, biological start-up and commissioning.
STP Retrofit & Upgrading
Existing plant failing ammonia, BOD or coliform? We convert and upgrade what is already there — including septic tank conversion and reworking underperforming SBR systems into continuous-flow fixed-film treatment — rather than defaulting to full replacement.
Industrial Wastewater Treatment
Process wastewater from food and beverage manufacturing, meat and seafood processing, poultry and livestock farms, laundries, denim wash plants and machine shops, designed around the actual contaminants in your stream.
Leachate Treatment
Landfill and dumpsite leachate treatment systems for high-strength, high-colour, difficult-to-treat wastewater, using combined biological, chemical and oxidation stages.
Compact & Underground Systems
Where space is the constraint — basement parking levels, tight urban lots, existing buildings — we design compact treatment trains that fit the footprint you actually have.
Tertiary Treatment & Water Reuse
Polishing beyond discharge compliance so treated effluent can be reused for toilet flushing, landscape irrigation, floor and equipment washing, and filter backwashing — cutting your water bill.
Sludge Management
Aerated sludge digestion, sludge wasting control and desludging schedules. A plant that treats water but ignores sludge will eventually fail, so every design we issue includes a sludge plan.
Wastewater Probiotics & Bioaugmentation
Locally produced Active Cells probiotics formulated for tropical conditions — faster biological start-up, lower sludge odour, and more stable BOD and ammonia removal in new and struggling plants.
Tank Construction & Civil Works
Concrete or fibreglass treatment tanks, excavation, waterproofing and a covered pump and blower room — quoted separately from the treatment system so you can see exactly what you are paying for, or take it as one turnkey package.
Design Supervision & Consultancy
Building it yourself or using your own contractor? We provide the process design, drawings and construction supervision, independent of the build.
Operation, Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Preventive maintenance, operator orientation and diagnostic support for plants we built and plants we did not — odour, foaming, sludge bulking, ammonia failure and clarifier carry-over.
Effluent Sampling & Permits
Accredited third-party effluent sampling and laboratory analysis at commissioning, plus assistance with environmental permit processing for land, water and air.
Compliance
Engineered to pass DENR discharge standards
Philippine wastewater discharge is governed by DENR Administrative Order 2016-08, as amended by DAO 2021-19. The limits that apply to you depend on the classification of the water body you discharge into — and on the significant parameters for your industry, not a generic checklist. Projects in Laguna de Bay tributaries carry additional LLDA requirements, and Manila Bay dischargers are held to stricter coliform limits under the Manila Bay clean-up mandamus.
We establish your discharge basis first — receiving water body, applicable authority, and the parameters your industry is actually measured on — then design the treatment train to meet it, including nitrogen, phosphate, surfactants and fecal coliform where domestic sewage is part of the stream.

Technology
How we treat wastewater
We choose technology to fit the site, the wastewater and the operator — not the other way round. The goal is a plant that runs reliably after turnover, with the least headache for whoever operates it.
FBBR-style fixed-film biological treatment
Our default for compact biological systems. Fixed-film media stays where it is put, so there is no media loss, no strainer clogging and no pump blockage — and it is far easier to inspect and service in underground tanks.
MBBR moving-bed systems
Used where the process or the client specifies it, and where tanks are above ground and accessible.
Two-stage aeration with anoxic denitrification
Separate stages for BOD removal and for nitrification. Staging diversifies the bacteria and is what makes ammonia removal reliable rather than intermittent.
Dissolved air flotation (DAF)
Standard pretreatment ahead of biological treatment for food manufacturing and any stream carrying heavy oil, grease and solids.
Chemical precipitation and phosphate removal
Dosing after biological treatment, ahead of clarification, where phosphate is a regulated parameter or where reuse water quality matters.
Ozonation and advanced oxidation
For colour, odour and refractory organics that biology alone will not remove — including chemical-heavy and non-biodegradable industrial wastewater.
AFM® filtration, activated carbon and UV
Tertiary polishing for solids, turbidity, colour and final disinfection where treated water is reused or where effluent must look as clean as it tests.
Electrocoagulation and electro-oxidation
For industrial wastewater carrying metals, dyes, colour or refractory COD that conventional treatment cannot reach.

Who we build for
How We Work
From enquiry to a plant that passes
- Establish the discharge basisWe identify your industry classification, receiving water body and the authority you answer to — DENR, LLDA, your water utility, LGU or industrial park — before any technology is chosen.
- Survey the site and the existing tanksAvailable footprint, existing septic or treatment tanks, depth, access, flow rate and operating hours. Reusing sound existing structures is usually cheaper than building new.
- Characterise the wastewaterActual laboratory analysis where available; conservative industry-based assumptions where it is not, stated openly so you know what would change after testing.
- Design the treatment train and issue the quotationProcess flow, tank schedule and dimensions, equipment list, scope of works and a transparent price — with tank construction quoted separately from the treatment system.
- Build, install and commissionConstruction, installation, biological start-up, operator orientation, and accredited third-party effluent testing to confirm the plant meets its target before handover.
- Support the plant after turnoverMaintenance, consumables, probiotics, troubleshooting and compliance support for the life of the system.
